Buckle up Daytona/Ormond beach drivers

Just a warning to drivers and passengers in the Daytona/Ormond beach area...put your seat belts on!  Florida law requires drivers and passengers to buckle up or risk a ticket.  The law used to only allow tickets for those not wearing safety belts when pulled over for another traffic offense.  However, now the law allows tickets to be issued for a seat belt violation alone.  Overall, Florida has seen an approximate 10% increase in citations for seat belt violations.  Some counties, like Brevard, have seen much larger increases...189% in the last year. Yikes!!

So remember to buckle up whether a driver or passenger.  Not only could it save your life, but save you money.
