Daytona 2011 Biketoberfest successful, but ends with 6 fatalities

Daytona and Ormond Beach saw plenty of bikers out for this year's Biketoberfest.  The weather was beautiful which contributed  to many motorcycles on our local roads.  Unfortunately, increases in traffic may have contributed to 6 fatalities during this year's event.  This marked a significant increase in fatalities over years past.  The last two years reported only 1 fatality during Daytona's Biketoberfest event.

Some of this year's fatalities involved crashes with motor vehicles while others were single motorcycles only.  When there are large events in our area, traffic increases leading to more accidents.  When traveling on the local roadways, excersise extreme caution. Never assume that other drivers see you, whether on a bike or in a car.  Increased awareness of your surroundings can often assist in avoiding serious injuries or death.

If you or someone you know has been injured in a motorcycle or car accident, contact Johnson & Gilbert, P.A. for free consultation at 1-800-556-8890.
