Over 250,000 Florida Car Accidents In One Year

When it comes to car accidents and motorcycle accidents, Florida is considered one of the most dangerous states.  According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, in just one year (2007), there were 256,206 traffic accidents.  That is an average of 702 crashes a day!

Not all of these accidents resulted in injuries and fatalities, as 117,658 of the collisions only led to property damage.  However, there were 135,601 injury accidents out of the 256,206 reported collisions and 2,947 fatal crashes.  What is especially staggering is that there were 366,917 drivers involved in Florida accidents.

In 2007, 3,221 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in Florida and another 212,149 were injured.

Motorcyclists are often the victims of accidents and in 2007, there were 9,205 reported motorcycle accidents across the state.  There were also 8,129 pedestrian accidents and 4,847 bicycle accidents that year.

An interesting fact included in the Florida Traffic Crash Statistics Report is that drivers between the age of 15 and 19 were involved in more collisions than any other age group and were more likely to be involved in fatal crashes.
