We encourage everyone to wear a helmet while riding. Your helmet is your best defense against serious and fatal head injuries. It is also important to wear eye or face protection, long pants, boots, a durable jacket and gloves. Unfortunately, even motorcyclists who wear protective gear are at a significant disadvantage when involved in a collision with a motor vehicle. Injuries often include brain damage, facial injuries, paralysis, amputation, spinal injuries, broken bones and road rash. Also, make sure you have adequate insurance coverage. One of the most important coverages to have that is frequently overlooked is uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. It is relatively inexpensive to purchase and in our opinion, the most important coverage you can have. We strongly encourage you to buy as much uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage you can afford.
