Daytona Beach motorcycle accident left a couple injured, one seriously, after the rider lost control of his bike and crashed on an Interstate 95 ramp. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, 2013, near International Speedway Blvd.

According to police spokesperson Jimmie Flynt, the motorcyclist lost control of his bike while coming off northbound I-95 onto International Speedway Blvd and crashed. The man’s wife was on the back of the bike at the time of the accident.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Donnie Gentry, 47, of Fort Meyers. Rescue crews transported Mr. Gentry to Halifax Health Medical Center where he was treated for serious injuries sustained in the wreck.

Mr. Gentry’s wife, 44-year-old Viola Gentry, was also taken to Halifax Health Medical Center where she received medical care. Fortunately, her injuries were not considered to be life threatening. Mr. Flynt indicated that both riders were not wearing helmets.

The single-vehicle motorcycle accident in Daytona Beach remains under investigation by local police as they determine why Mr. Gentry lost control of his bike.
