Motorcycle Accident Kills Ormond Beach Resident

An Ormond Beach man has been killed in a motorcycle accident on I-95 neat Titusville. Our condolences to his family and friends.

The twenty-seven-year-old man was a passenger on a 2007 Kawasaki.

The driver, a thirty-three-year-old man from Jacksonville, failed to take a gentle turn and hit the guard rail near Garden Street.

Hit and Run Accidents - Jacksonville

A thirty-three-year-old Jacksonville Beach man was arrested for a hit-and-run accident. The crash took place in the 300 block of First Street North.

There have been four other recent hit-and-run accidents in the Jacksonville area. No further arrests have been made.
In one case, a car hit a utility pole at Ninth Street and Eighth Avenue North. Other incidents took place in the 1600 block of Sixth Street South, at Third Street South and Marsh Landing Parkway, and in the 3700 block of Third Street South.

Hit and Run Law

Florida law requires that the driver of any vehicle involved in a crash stop immediately at or near the scene. The driver must remain at the scene until he or she has fulfilled his or her obligations under the law. Violation of this requirement is a third-degree felony.

In the event of a fatal crash, failure to stop is a second degree felony.
