

Authorities report that a man and woman were killed in two separate accidents while traveling on I-95.
Melanie Luce, 57, of Ormond Beach was pronounced dead in late May in a single -car accident on I-95. She was traveling north when her Jeep Liberty moved off the highway onto the shoulder for no apparent reason. Her car hit several trees and turned over. There were no passengers in the car.
Luce was wearing her seat belt, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an unrelated truck accident near New Smyrna Beach, a sixty-year-old Edgewater man died in an early -morning accident on I-95 south of State Highway 44. The victim has not been named pending notification of family.
He died after a tractor trailer collided with his SUV from the rear. Both vehicles were traveling north on the Interstate.
The SUV turned over onto its roof. The tractor trailer stopped after continuing on for several hundred feet.
The SUV driver died at the scene. A female passenger was taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. She was in serious condition.
The early morning crash closed the Interstate for more than five hours. Upon completion of the investigation, charges may be filed.
