Mr. Gilbert began his legal career as a legislative aide to State Senator Richard Langley in 1992.  He later moved to Daytona Beach and became an associate in the Law Offices of Frederick C. Morello, P.A.   While there he handled workers' compensation and wrongful termination claims.  In 1994 he joined Frank Johnson and formed Johnson & Gilbert, P.A.  He continues to practice in the area of workers' compensation, personal injury and social security.  Mr. Gilbert is also a Supreme Court certified mediator who has an active mediation practice in the areas of personal injury and workers' compensation.

Mr. Gilbert is admitted to practice in all Florida Courts. He is a member in good standing in The Florida Justice Association, The American Association For Justice, The Workers' Compensation section of the Florida Bar, Florida Workers' Advocates and The National Association Of Social Security Representatives.  He is also actively involved in various organizations devoted to justice for the women, men and children of the State of Florida.

He is a graduate of Florida State University receiving his B.S. in Communication in 1984.  He received his Juris Doctorate from Mercer University in 1992.
