Florida's roads can be hazardous during rainy weather

Drivers in the Ormond/Daytona and Flagler Beach areas know full well how quickly bad weather can strike.  During heavy rain storms, our streets can be submerged quickly.  I-4 and I-95 are already dangerous highways, but rain makes them even more treachorous.  When driving in bad conditions, it is important to take extra precautions while navigating roadways around Volusia and Flagler County.  The following tips will be helpful to avoid potential dangers when driving in bad weather:

1) Check your tire treads.  Worn tires will have more of a tendency to lose traction on wet roads
2) Check air pressure to ensure maximum traction
3) Keep wiper blades clean, and when worn, replace
4) Keep headlights operational and lenses clean
5) Follow other vehicles at a safe distance. This will allow extra time for sudden stops and reduce road spray on windshields

These are just a few tips to help improve safety while driving in bad weather.   If you have been injured in an auto accident and have questions, please contact Johnson & Gilbert, P.A. for a free consultation at 1-800-556-8890
