Uninsured motorist coverage is valuable coverage

One of our lawyers was just recently involved in a terrible accident outside of Daytona Beach while driving on I-4.  She was bumped from behind by another driver causing her SUV to roll several times, landing in oncoming traffic.  Although her SUV's safety features likely saved her life, she still suffered serious injuries.  If she had not carried an uninsured motorist policy (UM), she would likely not be able to recover any monetary damages as a result of the other driver's negligence.  The at-fault driver did not carry a bodily injury policy, an all to common occurrence in Florida.

I cannot emphasize enough the value of these uninsured motorist policies.  Since bodily injury is not required coverage in Florida, it is essential to carry an uninsured motorist policy to protect yourself when you are injured by the negligence of another driver.  These inexpensive policies can be the only source of recovery for injuries you suffer due to the negligence of someone else.

Florida's highways are dangerous. There are accidents almost daily on I-4 and I-95.  These accidents do not discriminate based on your profession. Anyone can be involved in an accident.  Make sure your are protected.  If you have been involved in an accident or have questions regarding insurance requirements in Florida, contact Johnson & Gilbert at 1-800-556-8890 for a free consultation.
