Daytona Beach Car Accident Kills Two People

Posted on Aug 25, 2009

A Daytona Beach car accident is to blame for two deaths.  The crash took place early morning of Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Daytona Beach.

Eighteen-year-old Brandy S. Smith was the second person to die from injuries sustained in the crash.  She had been on life support at Halifax Health Medical Center, according to Daytona Beach police investigator Jimmie Flynt.  Her twin sister, Brittney, is at the same hospital in serious condition.

Flynt said that 25-year-old Kelvin G. Henry died at Halifax Health Medical Center shortly after the car accident that occurred on Nova Road.  There were five people in the 2000 Ford sport utility vehicle at the time of the accident.  The SUV rolled numerous times and investigators have yet to say who was driving the vehicle during the crash.

Police think that the SUV had been speeding at a high rate when the driver lost control.  The vehicle, which had been traveling northbound, ended up in the southbound lane and was hit by another vehicle.

Shane Cox, 26, and Michael Hogg, 18, were also in the SUV at the time of the accident, but were not seriously injured.
