Daytona Beach Car Accident Leaves Pedestrian in Critical Condition

A Daytona Beach car accident involving an alleged homeless man leaves him in critical condition and fighting for his life after he is struck by a car. The incident took place on Saturday evening, April 3, 2010, along Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to the Daytona Beach Fire Department, the man was crossing Martin Luther King Boulevard when he was struck by a sedan. The force of the impact threw the man about 20 feet. Rescue crews transported the unidentified man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

The victim was listed in critical condition. He has been reported as suffering traumatic head injuries and was unresponsive when crews arrived on the scene. He was unable to breathe on his own when he reached the hospital.

The Daytona Beach pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The cause of the accident has not been made known and it is unclear whether the unidentified driver who hit the man will face any charges. No other details concerning the accident were made available.
