

A freak accident in Daytona Beach leaves one man dead when the delivery car he was driving backed over him after he exited the vehicle. The incident took place on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the Volusia County city.
According to Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies, the incident occurred when a driver of an Apria Health Care vehicle had parked the delivery car near the main entrance to Halifax Health Medical Center located in Daytona Beach. According to reports, the unidentified male driver had stopped the vehicle to make a delivery to the hospital.
According to reports, as the man exited the delivery car, the vehicle continued to travel backwards. The man was hit by the car when he attempted to stop the vehicle's backwards progress. He was taken into the hospital where he was treated for injuries. He was later pronounced dead from his injuries sustained in the freak accident.
Police have indicated that they do not intend to release the name of the man until his family members have been notified of his death.
The fatal Daytona Beach car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have not yet determined why the vehicle continued to travel backwards, hitting the man.
