An Orlando car accident claims the life of a woman after her boyfriend allegedly stabs her and then runs over her with their BMW. The violent incident took place on Saturday evening, April 24, 2010.
At approximately 11:00 PM that evening, police received a call from a woman in the road near the intersection of Dean Road and J. Blanchard Trail. The woman, 35-year-old Berlitz Alvelo, told 911 that she had been stabbed and run over by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Jose Antonio Maisonet-Maldonado.
Maisonet-Maldonado’s BMW was later spotted near the intersection of University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road. However, Maisonet-Maldonado was able to successfully evade police.
Police later received a report that the BMW had struck two other vehicles under Interstate 4 on Colonial Drive. Maisonet-Maldonado broadsided one vehicle; however, no one in that car was injured. Unfortunately, the occupants of the second vehicle, a red BMW, were not so lucky. The incident left 28-year-old Amanda Taylor and 22-year-old Francesca Jeffery with fatal wounds.
The force of the impact sent Maisonet-Maldonado’s BMW into a concrete bridge pylon after striking a sign. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.
The Orlando accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Maisonet-Maldonado is expected to be booked into jail as soon as he is released from the hospital.
This is an unfortunate incident and our thoughts and condolences go out to all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.
