VICTIM RUN OVER IN BEACH ACCIDENT

Posted on Jun 23, 2010

You might call Carol Dalton lucky in a way. She survived being run over by a truck on the beach.

She related her story while lying in an hospital bed. She was resting in a low chair on Daytona Beach when suddenly she was run over by a large truck. The beach-patrol truck had been traveling south when the driver was distracted by a child. The result was that Carol was run over by that truck.

The truck ran over the side of Carol's face, her chest and her leg. After it came to a stop, her leg was pinned under the truck. She screamed and began crying.

Finally, someone released Carol's chair, pushed it down, and freed her.

She has scars from the truck on both her face and chest. One leg was fractured by the vehicle and the other leg was badly cut. The beach patrol driver apologized to her and stated that he just had not seen her on the beach.

The accident is still under investigation by the Volusia County beach patrol. Daytona Beach does have beach driving lanes, but this accident demonstrates how careful all drivers on the beach must be to watch out for people enjoying the beach.
