

A Florida motorcycle accident near Daytona Beach involving two motorcycles critically injures a DeLand man sending him to a nearby hospital. The accident occurred at the intersection of New York Avenue and Lake Avenue at approximately 10:55 PM on Wednesday evening, October 14, 2009.
The first motorcyclist, Juan Partridge, 45, of DeLand, was traveling along State Road 44 near Lake Avenue when he reportedly struck a fallen tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was then run over by another motorcycle critically inuring the man. Partridge was transported by rescue workers to Florida Hospital-Deland and then later taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he was reported as being in critical condition.
Partridge was heading westbound along the roadway when his motorcycle struck the fallen tree that was blocking the entire lane. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, he was ejected from his motorcycle and landed in the eastbound lane.
The second motorcycle, driven by Carl Harmon, 51, of Sarasota, was riding behind Partridge when he was forced to swerve in order to avoid the tree. His motorcycle then ran over Partridge. Harmon was not injured in the crash.
The Volusia County incident is still under investigation by local authorities; however, no charges are expected to be filed.
