

A Deltona car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of a local man and leaves another injured. The incident took place at approximately 2:15 PM on Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2010, at the intersection of Saxon Boulevard and Alladin Drive.
According to Sheriff’s spokesperson Gary Davidson, the accident occurred when a 2002 Saturn station wagon turned left onto Saxon Boulevard and into the path of a 1999 Plymouth minivan. The driver of the Plymouth minivan, who has been identified at Noel Nieves, 19, of Deltona, attempted to avoid the collision and swerved into oncoming traffic and into the path of a 2001 Pontiac.
Rescue crews transported the unidentified driver of the Saturn to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. The Deltona man was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Nieves suffered minor injures and was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.
Fortunately, the two occupants in the Pontiac escaped injury. They have been identified as Heather Almany, 36, of Deltona, and a 5-year-old child.
The fatal Deltona car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
