

A Jacksonville car accident involving two vehicles leaves a 3-year-old child dead and sends five others to the hospital. The incident took place at the beginning of March, 2010, along Interstate 95.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 1997 Cadillac stalled on Interstate 95 on the Trout River Bridge when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) slammed into the vehicle. Troopers reported that the SUV was unable to avoid the Cadillac resulting in the fatal wreck.
A 3-year-old child was killed in the two-vehicle accident. Reports indicate that the child not only wasn’t strapped in a car seat, but was not wearing a seatbelt.
Rescue crews transported three other children and two adults to the hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Details concerning their injuries and conditions were not made available.
The fatal Jacksonville auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It has not been determined as to why the 3-year-old child was not strapped in a car seat.
