A Jacksonville car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of an elderly woman after she pulls in front of and is struck by a pickup truck. The incident took place at approximately 6:45 AM on Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010, along Lane Avenue.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the victim had just pulled out of a side street just south of San Juan Avenue and onto Lane Avenue. That is when her car was struck by a pickup truck, which was heading southbound.
Rescue crews pronounced her dead at the accident scene. She has been identified as Lennis Y. Boyette, 81, of Jacksonville. Police did not comment on whether she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the accident. The driver’s identity has not been made known.
The fatal Jacksonville car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. However, the Sheriff’s Office has indicated that a preliminary report that includes statements from witnesses shows that it may have been Boyette’s fault. She appeared to have violated the other driver’s right-of-way.
This is a terrible accident and our thoughts and condolences go out to Ms. Boyette’s family and friends during this difficult time.
