

A Leesburg car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of one person and sends four others to the hospital. The incident took place at approximately 12:15 PM on Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010, along U.S. Highway 27.
According to police, the accident occurred when a car made an erratic turn onto U.S. Highway 27 from Gunston Street. The driver failed to make a proper stop and turned into the far left lane and into the path of a Chrysler. In an attempt to avoid the first car, the Chrysler swerved into oncoming traffic and into the path of a Toyota where it struck the Toyota head-on.
There were four people inside the Chrysler at the time of the collision. One of those passengers lost their life as a result of the accident. Rescue crews transported the other three occupants to a local hospital. Their conditions were not made known.
The driver of the third vehicle was also taken to a nearby hospital. There was no one else reported in the car.
According to reports, the driver of the first car fled the accident scene. The car failed to stop and continued north on U.S. Highway 27.
The Leesburg auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police are still searching for the driver of the first vehicle.
