Ormond Beach Car Accident Kills Pedestrian

Posted on Nov 16, 2009

An accident in Ormond Beach involving a truck and a pedestrian results in the death of a man. The incident took place at approximately 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, November 8, 2009.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes, Bruce Bolduc, 53, of Ormond Beach was walking across North U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach, located north of Daytona Beach, when he was struck and killed by a vehicle he did not apparently see. Bolduc was walking east from the Iron Horse Saloon parking lot when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by William Groat, 58, of Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Groat was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 in the outside lane when Bolduc walked into the road and into path of the truck. Bolduc was struck by the truck’s left front area, which sent him over the truck’s hood where he finally landed in the soundbound lane, facing east, according to Montes. Montes also indicated that Groat immediately pulled over.

The fatal accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Montes indicated that troopers do not suspect that Groat had been drinking. An alcohol test was performed on Bolduc which is standard procedure when a pedestrian is killed in an accident. The results are still pending, according to Montes.
