A freak accident in Florida results in the death of a man. The incident, which took place in the Edgewater area, south of Daytona Beach, happened at approximately 11:40 PM on Saturday evening, October 10, 2009, in the 100 block of Woodley Avenue.

According to police, the victim was killed while in the process of directing a motorist who was backing up his truck. It has not been determined as of yet if the truck, which had a trailer attached to it, ran over the victim or crushed him against a wall. Edgewater police are in the process of investigating the incident to make this determination.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim. They are in the process of contacting his relatives.

According to the police report, the driver of the truck and 30-foot trailer involved in the accident was Harry Theal. Theal said that they were talking to one another on a two-way radio while he was backing up the truck and trailer. According to the report, Theal said that he saw his friend on the ground near a 6-foot concrete wall after he straightened out his wheels.

Emergency crews transported the man by EVAC to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
