A man who was the victim of a Zellwood hit-and-run car crash has died, authorities say.
William Tschida, of Mount Dora, died ten days after being involved in an accident on March 8. The 78-year-old was driving a 2008 Lincoln Town Car southbound in the left lane of US 441 near West Ponkon Rd. in Zellwood.
Behind Tschida’s car was a pickup truck driven by an unidentified person. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the car and the pickup both moved into the right lane at the same time. The front right of the truck struck the back left of the car, causing it to spin off of the road.
The Lincoln then moved down the embankment onto the right shoulder and turned once. The driver of the truck fled. Passenger Shirley Tschida, 77, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Mr. Tschida was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The driver of the truck is still being sought. If you have any information, call troopers at 407.737.2213 or Crimeline at 800.423.8477.
