According to Ormond Beach police spokesperson Lt. Kenny Hayes, the driver of a 2006 Lamborghini lost control of his sports car and slammed into a steel pole in front of Buttleman’s Sporting Goods at 175 N. U.S. Highway 1. The driver was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he crossed a median and slammed into the pole. The force of the impact caused the car to burst into flames.
The driver has been identified as David William Fulton, 24, of Ormond Beach. Mr. Fulton became pinned in the wreckage when the vehicle caught fire. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Vanessa Bain, 40, also of Ormond Beach, was in the passenger’s seat when the incident occurred. She suffered only minor injuries.
The fatal early-morning Ormond Beach car accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
